These pants were made with an upcoming event in mind. I wanted an eye-catching piece of art to wear while performing on a stage in front of hundreds of people. I had to think about what would be visible on cameras, in colored lights, what colors would contrast the best against the dark color of the denim, and what would match my band’s color scheme. I did a lot of design hunting, however, I knew that I wanted two bold design aspects. I knew immediately I wanted to paint a sword on the back side of the pants. I was stumped on what to do for the other side, not wanting it to look boring. Looking through Pinterest, Instagram, and even TikTok. I wanted to create an “edgy” look. I then decided I would create an alligator image for the front side of the jeans. I designed the Big Sword first. Sketching the outlines on my iPad for a reference. I then began sketching out the Alligator, which took some trial and error, but I ended up with a reference I really liked. After I had finished my digital sketches, I began outlining the figures on the jeans with chalk so it would be easier to paint. Using fabric paint, detail paint brushes, a hair dryer, and a lot of patience, I had finally finished the paintings after 6 hours of work.
