This is another sticker I decided to challenge myself with. I have lately been obsessed with the canned fish design that has been trending recently. I like the way it’s laid out and overall, each design makes me happy. So, I decided to make a design of my own. I gave myself the limit of only designing one sticker for this project. I asked myself what colors I wanted to use, which fish I should draw, and what size and shape I should make the can. I ultimately decided on the well-known Sardine in a rectangle can. Simple and recognizable. I wanted the can to peel back and reveal a couple of fish. I wanted them to have a sort of blank expression with bug eyes and flat mouths. I then decided on the color of the packaging, a red background with yellow bubble letters, banners and price tags, and some green olives. The text on the can says, “Sardines in Olive oil, $1.49.” I started out with a sketch and then colored flat layers. I had to redo the process of doing the line art because the first time didn’t look visually appealing, messy, you could say. Keeping the already colored layers, I did simple line art and made an overlay layer to make it a slightly darker color than the flat colors. I then did some final touches like adding handwritten text and shadows and then the sticker was complete.
